i.HOC - Integrated Heat of Compression
The i.HOC (Integrated Heat of Compression Dryer) uses 100 % of the heat of compression from the second compressor stage for drying purposes (full-flow regeneration). This heat, which is produced in any case, is therefore effectively available at zero cost.
- No additional energy input for the drying process
- Higher regeneration potential than dryers with partial-flow regeneration
- Full performance, even at low compressor load
The advantages of full-flow regeneration become particularly evident at increased cooling medium temperatures. KAESER i.HOC rotation dryers achieve outstanding drying results, even without additional electrical heating of the regeneration air.

Kaeser's Oil-free Rotary Screw Compressors
The Integrated Heat of Compression Dryer can be integrated with Kaeser's Oil-free Rotary Screw Compressors to increase the energy efficiency of the compressed air system.
Kaeser’s CSG, DSG, and FSG series are designed to deliver oil-free compressed air for food, beverage, chemical, and other demanding applications.
The system
The patented i.HOC® rotary drum dryer from Kaeser uses up to 100% of the heat of compression for energy saving drying. Thanks to its full-flow regeneration method, these dryers deliver reliable pressure dew points as low as -22°F (-30°C)—without electrical heating or additional cooling of the regeneration air. Available either air-cooled or water-cooled on all models.

Frequently asked questions
How does the heat of a compression dryer work?
When rotary screws rotate they create massive amounts of heat. This heat can be captured and diverted to a cylinder, where wet compressed air exchanges with the heat to lower the water content and pressure dewpoint of compressed air.
Is an internally heated iHOC dryer energy efficient?
An iHOC Dryer reduces a reliable and stable dewpoint in continuous drying applications. The energy consumed is negligible and so too are the maintenance costs.
Which air compressor is best suited to an iHOC compressed air dryer?
Kaeser’s oil-free rotary screw air compressors are the perfect compressed air generation partner to couple with an iHOC dryer. Pharmaceutical Industries capitalise on this excellent compressor and dryer combination, because it meets and exceeds the industries stringent requirements.
Do I need a compressed air dryer?
In 99% of compressed air applications a dryer is recommended, and typically required. Dryers remove unwanted liquid condensate, and protect downstream equipment, cylinders, valves products, and even the most valuable company asset,… your employees.
How it works
Our tried-and-tested approach to get you a reliable compressed air solution at the lowest possible cost of ownership looks like this:
Discovery call
Our solutions specialist visits your facility to discuss your current situation, pain points, future plans, and potential government incentives. We can undertake as little, or as much, of your project as you would like.
Requirement analysis
We analyze the compressed air equipment at your facility, its performance, condition, control mechanisms, and suitability. We ensure that storage, piping, and compressed air quality are in line with your requirements and best practices.
Turnkey design and installation
Everything we do is “in house.” Compressed air system design, air audits, leak detection, design, build, installation, and air compressor service are handled quickly and efficiently. This approach means that we manage every aspect of your project and create single source supply for you and your organization.
Maintenance and repair
Whether you require emergency breakdown response, predictive, or preventative maintenance our team has you covered. Air end and motor service and rebuilds, piping system, and analysation are also available.
