Kaeser's screw blower packages combine the energy efficiency savings of the Sigma Profile rotary screw air end with the convenience of a complete blower package. The screw blower packages include the same design features as the Com-paK blowers, including premium efficiency TEFC motors, silencers, starters/drive, a full enclosure, and a full complement of sensors. Sigma Control 2™ with blower control software is standard. Options include STC (wye-delta start) or SFC (variable frequency drive).
An air blower is a device that enhances the speed and volume of air flow. There are various types, including regenerative and positive displacement blowers, but centrifugal blowers are the most common. They are widely used for tasks such as cooling, cleaning, blow-off, moisture removal, and regulation due to their energy efficiency.
Parts of a centrifugal air blower typically include the fan housing, inlet and outlet ducts, driveshaft, drive mechanism, and impellers. Impellers, crucial components, are rotors powered by electricity to increase air pressure and flow. As air enters the centre of the impellers, it is divided among the blades, increasing the air volume. The spinning impeller then accelerates the air using centrifugal force, creating pressure as the high-velocity air is diffused in the blower housing. Impellers work opposite to turbines, which decrease pressure and extract energy from fluids like air.

The System
An air blower uses a rotating impeller/rotor to create a vacuum. This vacuum causes air to rush into the blower. The air enters the centre of the impeller and is divided by the rotating blades. Centrifugal force increases the speed of the air and volume of the air stream within the housing.
Effectively, the kinetic energy of the impeller is transferred to the air. Pressure builds up as the volume of the airstream increases inside the housing. The air is then discharged from the housing towards a defined point.
This targeted channelling of the air is what differentiates an air blower from a simple fan. Air blowers, designed as part of an air knife system, will create a balanced airflow – reducing wasteful over-generation of excess volume and pressure.
