Engagement Details
Soprema reached out to Air Solutions because of our service history and local expertise in the Woodstock and surrounding areas. Soprema brought us into the project at the pre-construction stage, because of our “in-house” turnkey, design, build and installation abilities.
From early drawings through installation, we:
-
Worked with Soprema to mirror the successful compressed air setup used in Montreal
-
Designed the system so that the hot air discharge, which is created by virtue of the heat of compression, could be redirected back into the room during winter, turning waste heat into a useful energy source
-
Coordinated a complete solution for both compressed air and nitrogen, bringing in Specialty Gas Canada as a partner for the nitrogen side of the project
-
Eliminated the necessity for Soprema to sign long-term, rigid contracts with Nitrogen delivery companies
This collaboration allowed Soprema to move forward with a design that combined familiar standards, local support, and long-term efficiency.
Technical scope:
To support the new facility, ASC engineered and installed an integrated compressed air and nitrogen system built around Kaeser equipment.
-
Compressed Air System:
-
2 x Kaeser Rotary Screw Compressors (Variable speed drive, integrated refrigerated dryer, 119 cfm capacity)
-
2 x Coalescing pre- filters Kaeser F43KB and F43KE, with electronic Eco Drain 30 traps
-
1 x 240 gal Air receiver
-
1 x Desiccant air dryer Kaeser KAD40E (40 cfm, for outdoor air supply)
-
1 x Particulate removing After filter Kaeser F16KD
-
1 x Condensate treatment unit Kaeser KCF 25
-
-
Nitrogen Generation:
-
1 x Nitrogen generator PeakGas iFlow 6000 series (18cfm, ≥95.0% purity,@ 95psig)
-
-
Pipework:
-
Designed and installed using Kaeser’s SmartPipe+ Blue Aluminum piping for optimal air distribution, with minimal pressure drop and friction loss.
-
The Result
The new Woodstock facility now operates with a compressed air and nitrogen system designed specifically for its current production needs and future growth plans. Air Solutions Canada delivered a turnkey solution on time and on budget. The plant now benefits from a reliable, right-sized compressed air and nitrogen infrastructure that aligns with Soprema’s Montreal standards.
Energy efficiency was a key focus of the design. The system combines variable-speed compressors, SmartPipe+ distribution, and a winter heat recovery strategy capable of capturing up to 96% of compressor power as usable heat. Compared to standard units, the system is projected to achieve energy savings of up to 30%, with final performance results to be confirmed as operating data accumulates.
With this foundation in place, Soprema’s new Woodstock facility is equipped for efficient day-to-day operation and ready to support continued growth.

The ultimate guide on rightsizing your compressed air system
Choosing the right compressed air system is crucial to minimize the total cost of ownership. How do you calculate the air demand in flow rate (CFM) and pressure (PSIG), what's the power requirement (V), and how does that translate in a compressed air system with one or more compressors (hp)?
